Over the weekend, Nick & I had a Gator football party at our house. We thought the Tennessee Vol game would be a good one, but it appeared the Vols didn’t show up. They got slaughtered by Tebow and the crew. Alas, it didn’t matter. The key to party success? Be sure to have plenty of food, beer, and yard games. And boy, we did! We had beer coolers set up on multiple floors of our house, the slow cooker overfloweth of meatballs (which were completely gone by the end of the night–thank you Sams Club), and yard games as far as ye eye could see. Baggo, washers, volleyball, and some other random game that I can’t remember the name of, were constantly in action. Little Xander wasn’t the only kid at this seemingly adult party, but he wasn’t interested in playing with them (because they were playing with HIS toys and he gets to play with those all day long). He enjoyed playing in the coolers, checking out the cool chairs in the yard, and watching the yard games in action. At one point, partygoer Kelly showed him the juicebox cooler and he was in hog-heaven when she popped in a straw for him and he got to taste the juice sweetness. He’s never had a juicebox before that moment. It took some ‘straw’ educating, but he forever loves Kelly now. Th end of the party came too soon, but all good things must come to an end. We were very thankful the rain never came and that the party-cleanup wasn’t too bad. Overall, our first St. Louis-style Gator party was a success!
