27 week update

It’s time for an update and a new belly photo! There has been a BIG change since my 20 week photo. Yep, I’m huge!! I can’t believe I still have 3 months of growing to do! Everything is progressing normally and smoothly, though I expect that to change once I cross over into the 3rd trimester next week. The newest symptom I’ve been experiencing is severe heartburn and acid reflux. It seems that ALL food is triggering it, especially at night when I’m trying to fall asleep. I’ve been keeping a large bottle of tums on my bedside table and I go through 1 bottle of water per night. I’ve been having trouble sleeping as is, so this newest symptom isn’t helping me to get my beauty sleep. On Wednesday night I got 3 hours sleep and Friday night I got 4. I was up at 3:30am Saturday morning working on Christmas cards instead of sleeping soundly. I need my 8 hours!! Otherwise, everything is going well. The baby moves constantly which is something I’ve gotten use to so it doesn’t bother me anymore. Nick and I have nearly completed redoing the office, so now we can focus on the nursery. We still need to paint the crown moulding and make some wall paint touchups. We’re also narrowing down baby names and are close to deciding on one. We plan to announce the name of the baby on Dec. 23rd at our baby shower in Orlando. To those who have asked, we are registered at Babies R Us and Pottery Barn Kids.

My next doctor’s appointment is on Dec. 19. This past week I had my glucose tolerance test at a local diagnostic clinic. The purpose of the test was to see if I’ve developed gestational diabetes. Talk about a horribly GROSS experience! Basically the appointment entailed me downing a large cup of horribly sweet flat orange soda and waiting in the doctor’s office for 1 hour before the nurse could take a blood sample. Since I had to fast before the appointment and since I was feeling sick after slurping down that nasty orange syrup, that hour felt like 10! My doctor will receive the results this week.
